Month Review….

Posted on

Okay, this is something that I’m going to do faithfully (Lordwilling) at the end of each month. This will put in summary what I have learned this month and what I was intending to post  ;).

1. Start a blog and TRY to be faithful in posting….

2. Never, I repeat, NEVER! make a double batch of homemade mayonnaise….post will follow about that experience.

3. That God is always faithful to provide for everything that I need, including free concealer:)

4. That if I keep adding recipes to my bookmarks, I will never be finished with writing this blog.(Just added a new one a few minutes ago) Strawberry & Lime Layer Cake It sounds amazing!!!

5. That even when I make mistakes in life, once I ask forgiveness from God and the people who are effected by my decision. I can still go forward in my Christian walk.

So, with this and many more in mind, I hope you had just a great a month as I have. I’m looking forward to the many months ahead….

How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

– Psalm 139:17-18

Twelve men went to spy on Cannan…..

Posted on

How many of us remember hearing that song in our Sunday School class or Children’s choir?? I know I do, it was a favorite to sing. Maybe it was because I could sing at the top of my voice and do all the hand motions really fast and not get in trouble for it. For a strange reason this morning, as I was trying to wake up, this song began to play in my head. I began to think about the words and realized that there are some great Bible truths in that simple song. Truths that never spoke to me before until today. Here are the words to this song in cause you have forgotten them.

Twelve men went to spy out Canaan,
(Ten were bad, two were good)
What do you think they saw in Canaan?
(Ten were bad, two were good)
Some saw giants, big and tall!
Some saw grapes in clusters fall,
Some saw God was in it all.
(Ten were bad, two were good)

No need to go into the history behind this song, if you don’t remember, read Numbers 13-14. The main thing that God showed me about this song is this, how do we look at the purpose God has planned for our lives?

Do we look at the difficulties? That it is impossible for this to happen. It says in I Cor 2:9 “But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” This verse gives us the assurance He has a purpose for us and that it is greater than we can imagine.

Do we look at what we can get out of it? Will this path provide for all my needs? Funny how our wants become our needs too. That includes physical and emotional needs and relationships too. Paul says it well in Philippians “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

God’s purpose for our life is our “Promise Land”. He takes us out of our bondage of sin and into salvation(leaving Egypt), leads us along a path of training and preparation(the first trip through the wilderness), and then helps us to accomplish His will(the Promise Land). We must have the faith of Joshua and Caleb if we want to be at our fullest potential in God’s eyes.

The last part of the song “Some saw God was in it all.” holds the truth that I love. Joshua and Caleb were the only two of the original spies that had faith in God that He would help them take control of the Promise Land. When we know in our hearts what God’s purpose is for our lives we must follow by faith. Of course, this means staying under the authority of our parents because God will use them to direct us. We also must align our purpose with God’s word. It does not happen all at once but if we seek His will, He will reveal it to us.

Now what if you have no idea what God’s purpose is for you. Search for it in God’s word. It says in Jeremiah 29:13 “And you shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart.” He is not the type of God who hides His will, but we must be willing to seek His will and not our own.

I hope that this post has encouraged you to seek the Lord and to find out more about this event in the Bible. I have only starched the surface at all the things that God showed me and is continuing to show me. I encourage you to seek God so we can make a difference is this world. Have a great weekend and a wonderful day at church tomorrow.

And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. – Psalm 40:3
