In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me. – Psalm 120:1

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. – I Timothy 1:7
“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18
Have you ever stopped and thanked God for how good He is? I have been the benefactor of many blessings this past week, and every time I have received them I have always had the feeling that I didn’t deserve it. Maybe that is why God gave them to me at that particular time. He knew that I would have a grateful heart that would be willing to praise Him instead of thinking I deserved it…
So think about it today…how have you shown thankfulness for how good God is to you???
Okay, I learned a very important lesson a few weeks back and have decided to share it. Never, NEVER, make double batch of homemade mayonnaise. I wanted to be Ms. Susie Homemaker by making homemade mayonnaise for chicken salad that I am serving at a birthday party. I had great plans for it being that talk of the party. (Note, pride comes before a fall) However in this case, the mayonnaise was ruined and my poor, sweet, wonderful dad had to go to the store to buy me some more oil. So, here is the recipe for the mayonnaise as shown in Paula Deen’s Kitchen Classic Cookbook. It is awesome and its fun to add seasonings to it too 🙂 Remember…only make one batch!!!
Easy Homemade Blender Mayonnaise – yields 1 cup
1 cup vegetable oil 1 egg 3 teaspoons fresh lemon juice 3/4 teaspoon salt (I like Kosher) 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard (use garlic powder if you have not mustard) 1 tablespoon hot water
In the container of a blender, combine 1/4 cup of the oil, the egg, lemon juice, salt, and mustard, and blend for just a few seconds. With the blender running (don’t worry you will not get this mixture in you face), take lid off and drizzle in the remaining 3/4 cup oil. Blend in the hot water. Stop blender and put in small container and place in refrigerator. It will last in the refrigerator about 4 days.
I hope you enjoy this recipe. I love it!!
Okay, I may seem behind in my post, but I have been reading a book a day. So far, only one day behind but Saturday is my catch up day. 🙂
Zephaniah, another minor prophet whose book is near the end of the Old Testament. It is another call of judgement to Israel for not obeying His commandment and interesting enough, a call of judgment for those who act and even speak against Israel. (Look up Zep 2:8-10)
Now the part I do like is found in the last chapter of the book. (By the way only 3 chapters) Chapter three talks about the second coming of Jesus. I find this part so amazing. God had Zephaniah write about the 2ND coming about four hundred years before His first…so cool!
My favorite verse is the one I posted today as verse of the day. Here it is again if you missed it.
The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing. – Zep 3:17
Hopefully I find time to post about book three soon. This one is part of the Trailblazer Series…
